When it comes to avo sizes, we’re all about flexibility. Choose between mini, medium, large and jumbo. Each avo varies slightly in size, all falling within the following weight ranges. Mini avo = 130g–160g; Medium avo = 160g–220g; Large avo = 220g–290g; Jumbo avo = 290g+. Please note these are the picked weights when avocados are unripe. Allow for 10-20% weight reduction as these go from unripe to ripe.
Hass avocados are one of the easiest varieties to read. The skin turns from green to dark purple-black as they ripen. Give the avo a gentle squeeze in your palm (not with your fingers): if it gives slightly, it’s ready. If it’s still firm, leave it on the bench for another day or two.
Our avocados are grown by carefully selected orchardists across Bay of Plenty, New Zealand. They’re picked to order and packed within days of harvest, travelling from orchard to your door without sitting in cool storage. We work with growers throughout the season to source the best available fruit each week.
Store your avos in a box or bowl at room temperature to ripen. As each one ripens, move it to the fridge to slow things down; it’ll stay perfectly ripe for a week or more. Want to speed things up? Add a banana to the bowl. A simple mix of bench + fridge = perfectly staggered avos for weeks.
Our avocados aren’t predominantly spray-free, though we do occasionally source from orchards that are. When that’s the case, we include a card in your box so you’ll know exactly what you’re getting.
